CARNEGIE OF HOMESTEAD CELEBRATES 125 YEARS!!!

The Carnegie of Homestead is celebrating their 125th Anniversary this year and will kick off a year-long celebration with an Open House on Saturday, January 21, 2023.

The community is invited to tour the historic Music Hall, Library, and Athletic Club, and participate in one of many different events highlighting its history throughout the day from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm.

The celebration will kick off at 11:00 am with a special unveiling of “Carnegie Steel-Homestead Works 1926” by world-renowned Pittsburgh artist Johno Prascak. The 32-foot, 8 canvas masterpiece will be on-loan and displayed in the concert hall to celebrate the history of Steel in the Mon Valley, paying homage to the Pittsburgh Steel-making past.

The public is invited to enjoy two film screenings: Hazelwood Alive by local historian, JaQuay Carter and City of Steel: The Rise and Decline of the Steel Industry, by Emmy award-winning film producer, Bruce Spiegel, who grew up in Pittsburgh.

The library will offer interactive robots and geode activities for children, adults can create Valentine gnomes, and families can also enjoy the many amenities the athletic club and swimming pool offer that day. The Carnegie will also have a variety of Carnegie of Homestead merchandise for sale.
